There’s new Garry Huswitt’s film coming to town. Hallelujah.

For fairly obvious reasons I loved his previous documentary, “Helvetica” (if you have a look at the design of binary life you will know why).  The font and its history is really only a canvas to film’s discussion of visual communication modern and post modern design.

“Objectified” will open at this years SXSW. It is, according to the website: “about our relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them.” It already caused quite a stir, because it features an interview with Apple’s designer Johny Ive waving the new macbook around inside the company’s design facilities. And we all know how this design sells for a lot.

If it’s anything like “Helvetica” it will be really revealing piece of film. Also very nicely shot and edited. If you are anywhere in the US check the website for special screenings: www.objectifiedfilm.com. It is pretty good indie film website too.
