There's too much income in ticket sales, DVDs and merchandise sitting there just waiting to be collected. Alan Moore hates all film adaptations of his work and refuses to get involved with them mostly. Often they are pretty good films in their own right but miss the entire point of the book for the sake of a Hollywood ending, like V For Vendetta. I hope Watchmen won't do that though as most serious comic fans I know who've seen previews love it. If they like it then most people will also.
