I’m so fair… and so middle class. Don’t know when I acquired the habit of buying fair-trade stuff (if presented with a choice), I guess it must be the shop at the College where I work stocks up on them. Goldsmiths is very fair trade, green and what not. Except sometimes not fair to their students or employees, but that is a whole different matter. Still nothing wrong with supporting a good cause.
Today I went to the shop and supplied myself with the following:
I’m not a big cola drinker (no drinker at all as a matter of fact), but the geek in me couldn’t resist the perspective of posting ‘i’m drinking ubuntu cola‘ to jaiku. Even though at first glance I assessed that it has nothing to do with the actual operating system. It wouldn’t be entirely unlikely move from Ubuntu, mind you. After all nothing better for building community that communal hangover curing over a carbonated soft drink. By the way I predict community to become my pet hate buzz word of 2009. It’s used everywhere for everything; even more community has become a commodity that all internet enterprises want to posses whether they do or don’t actually know what it means and what responsibility it requires.
The ubuntu cola is doing well with the standard online PR too: facebook, youtube, blog etc etc. I can’t help but think that we will have to come up with something entirely new soon, as this model is getting slightly jaded…?
