After 2 years of happy-go-lucky and merry-go-round I now officially joined the army of the frustrated with their internet service provider. Enter Virgin joke-of-a-broadband. I remember about 3 years ago Virgin was the author of one of my favourite advertising fail; their slogan for a student credit card read at the time “live a virgin student life”. Turns out you not only won’t get laid, you also won’t be online much.

Any how, that aside, we ordered broadband with virgin in the winter last year sometime after we dropped AOL. Then in October this year after “freezing” our broadband for few months we moved into a new place - something that was planned for a while and enquired about when we were ordering. Yes, yes, no problem. My arse.

It took them 2 months to reconnect us. Two months. They promised 4 times it will be “next Tuesday”. Not only that, we have to start our 12 month contract from scratch. On top of that the bloody connection drops every 5 minutes. And the wifi doesn’t work.

I’m far from technology illiterate but networks are my pet hate. IP addresses make me cringe. Setting the whole business up, especially when there are PCs involved is a hell on earth. I know some people do this for a living and they have my eternal.

The frustrating thing is once you sign your soul away to the devil in a 12-month contract ISPs can mess you about no end. There’s nothing you can do except call and complain with the person on the other hand explaining it’s not their fault.

But I haven’t become a blogger so that I have no way to voice my frustration.

Don’t sign up with virgin, that’s all I’ve got to say

Glad they finally reconnected you, 2 months is just ridiculous they should be ashamed but I doubt they give a fuck. I’m looking to change ISP at the moment but I won’t by using Virgin after your experience so your message has reached at least one person. Hope you get the wireless sorted soon, give us a shout if you need any help with the network :)
