I once heard that he quickest way to kill a blog is to start writing sporadically and about yourself. Well, tough.

There has been a lot going on a the binarylife HQ including the fact that the HQ is quite literarily mobile since I’m homeless at the minute. Didn’t stop the HQ from adopting a little cat, however, if you haven’t seen Guinness yet you can do so here.

Other than that I’ve spent quite a considerable amount of time doing this:

This is where my brain was over the past several days (as well as past half a year since I first started thinking about my dissertation).

But I have been also thinking about other things. I have just finished 3 weeks of sweating over implementing a data base management system in at my hopeless work place. Don’t get me wrong, I like my work, but project managing within higher education could send any one over the edge.

This prompt me however to remove the dust from my coding skills which been at peace of non-use since I was about 16. And then I started thinking about designs, usability, interfaces, future of web applications…

I have been really interested in this project recently. It’s a microblogging platform that is not only open source but capable for of distribution. Exciting idea although it needs a lot of work to get off the ground (for now it’s about as useful as twitter). I made few scetches while I was thinking of possibilities it gives and uses it could have and I will post all this when I reached some conclusions (if I will).

All in all I was thinking about visualisation of data and layouts of services recently. Exciting times ahead.

I’ve actually been playing with a little Django program that works like Jaiku, or it will when I’m done. Mostly just for fun (yes this is a geeks idea of fun) but let me know what you come up with in terms of brave new interface designs. It could be very useful :)
