I've had almost 10 successful "permanent" Linux migrants fresh from doze to PCLinuxOS. Even thought hardcore experienced arch, slack, and Lunar Linux fans won't like it, for new users, it Just works, and hey, REMEMBER mandriva is ok, but id still say either mint, pclinuxos, or opensuse for purely new users.
